  18. The CD-ROM drive icon may disappear from the File Manager window and Event
  19. Viewer shows the following error:
  20.  
  21.    The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
  22.    
  23.       aha154x
  24.  
  25. This error does not allow the CD-ROM drive to be visible in File Manager.
  26.  
  27. This error may occur on a previously working CD-ROM drive after you install
  28. a new service or a software upgrade (such as installing a U.S. Service
  29. Pack).

  31. WORKAROUND
  32. ==========

  34. To work around this problem, shut off your computer, and then restart
  35. Windows NT or Windows NT Advanced Server.

  37. STATUS

  40. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
  41. Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post
  42. new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
  43. available.
